Что на самом деле означает «установить библиотеку» в Linux?

Я хочу скомпилировать проект из исходного файла, а одна из зависимостей - библиотека XmlRpc++. Я нашел эту библиотеку, и после большой битвы удалось скомпилировать ее в Linux. Но нет опции "make install", и я закончил с каталогом с файлами.o и одним файлом libXmlRpc.a.

Но основной проект не смог найти эту библиотеку в процессе настройки. Итак, я был вынужден использовать следующие параметры в команде. /configure:

LDFLAGS=-L../xmlrpc++0.7/ CPPFLAGS=-I../xmlrpc++0.7/src/

В результате файл заголовка был найден. Но независимо от этого успеха, ошибка все еще появляется, и я не знаю, что она на самом деле означает (что инструмент настройки не может найти) и что я должен сделать, чтобы исправить это. Вот консольный вывод:
