У меня есть одна панель меню. Я просто нашел что-то полезное для того, чтобы вся область меню отображалась с помощью jquery.

Ваша проблема здесь:
window.location = $(e.target).find("a").attr("href");
При нажатии кнопки элемент, то a e.target становится a сам элемент, а так...
$(e.target).find('a');
возвращает пустой объект jQuery, потому что e.target не имеет дочерних элементов. Вам нужно сделать это, если вы хотите использовать e.target:
var $a = e.target.nodeName.toLowerCase() == 'a' ? $(e.target) : $(e.target).find('a');
window.location = $a.attr('href');
Таким образом вы проверяете, уже ли вы нажали элемент a. Если это так, использует его; если нет, ищет его.
